Sarah Martin
Sarah Martin grew up in Rhode Island and has lived on the South Shore since 2009. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maine in 2009, spent a few years teaching, and then earned her master’s degree in Deaf Education from Smith College in 2013.
Sarah has been working as a Teacher of the Deaf for the last twelve years, serving students and families on the South Shore. She has worked with newly diagnosed children through Early Intervention services as well as students in grades PreK-post grad in the mainstream. Throughout this time she has also supervised graduate students in both the Smith College and Fontbonne University graduate programs and been a member of the FNIP Advisory Council for Fontbonne.
Sarah’s specialty includes working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing to develop their listening and spoken language skills, as well as their self-advocacy skills. She brings a unique perspective in that she has a unilateral hearing loss herself and is able to directly relate to children and families in this field.
Sarah is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as an Oral/Aural Teacher of the Deaf.
